Response of framed machine supporting structures using modified contribution factor

Abstract

Framed machine foundations are used for installing heavy machineries such as turbo generators. In this study, the response of framed machine foundation is determined incorporating modified contribution factor (CFm‎). The proposed CFm accounts for the combined effect of dynamic magnification factor and contribution factor. The proposed method accounts for a wide range of modal frequencies in the response prediction. Unlike in the existing approaches, the necessity of considering wide range of modal frequencies is demonstrated in this paper.
